Setting goals is relevant to all aspects of life. The same goes for implementing the social media plan. Having a set goals and objectives created a clear sense of focus that increase productivity. Without a goal, the path that you will created could end up as a mistake that can cost you time ,money, and non-renewable resource such as human talent and opportunity cost.

The best way to plan is to do it the SMART way. The SMART way is literally the smart way to plan your social media strategy.

The SMART goal follow these 5 simple criteria and standard.

Specific : The whole point of clarity to be be wholesome and detail with your goal to better understand what you want to get out of it

Measurable : Have a set amount of data that can keep track of progress. This will help understand what you might be doing wrong and what you might be doing right in term of progress.

Achievable : The goal has to be achievable in term of your capabilities. Starting off with smaller goal, then working your way up to the bigger goal is a good approach to making sure that your goal is achievable.

Relevant : Make sure that your goal is relevant to your social media platform, campaign, and it is transparent with your message.

Time : Given a set amount of time to show urgency in your goal. This gives a sense that you have to work hard to accomplish your goal within that time frame.

For example, this is a social media goal for LinkedIn:

-Increase followers by 25% in 6 months

-Post 3 pieces of content per week for 52 weeks

-Increase website traffic from LinkedIn by 25% in 2 years

Increasing LinkedIn followers starts with driving targeted audience to application through posting content consistently. Engage in media-rich status updates with compelling headlines. Create original content too. Once content is posted/shared, target audience will engage in content as they are a favorable audience. Average LinkedIn likes on posts increases as content and followers increase. The example shown meets every SMART qualification.
